is the clans name talking about warhammer 40k space marines
I just read through that entire wall of text and WOW. I've been gaming online since the days of Rise of the Triad, Doom 1, Quake 1, etc etc etc (18 years or so?). I can't believe AoD has survived all of those mutations as well as teh ups and downs. I've run several guilds/clans and it can be a lot of work. When you surround yourself with good people, the clan can almost run itself (with limits). I just joined in April, but already feel like this is a great fit for me in the long run. I'm pretty sure this is where I will be for quite some time.
On another note, when I came over I brought over about 7 guys from a Clan I had made in World of Tanks (I am in the WoT div). Most of us met through a game called Dark Age of Camelot. For those of you not familliar, it is to this day, one of the best PvP (Realm Verse Realm) MMO games to date (and it's old!). We played on the Bors server. We used to post on the IGG "Vault Network Boards". I still have an obscene post count on their even though I haven't posted on it in many yeats (Think I had about 15,000 posts). After I had gotten out of the FPS genere, I moved onto MMOs and Sherons Call (I also used the Vault Network boards for Asherons). Anyway, Vault Networks had brought on some new Admin and she basically was Hitler incarnate. Modding peoples posts and banning left and right. The community had finally had it. We revolted and made our own server board and moved everyone to it. That board is still as busy as ever to this day where I am still a mod (I use the term losely, nothing is really moderated) and part time Admin. That was roughly 7 years ago... wow. The guys I brough over have been playing against or with each other since about 2001. It's strange when you try to explain to non-gaming people the realtionships you build with people in a virtual world, they just don't get it.
Anyways, thanks for having me. Thanks for keeping AoD around and running strong. I'm currently a DJ on the WoT radio station for Clanaod and look forward to meeting most of you all!

Any chance we could change the font colors? Red is definatley hard on the eyes
Thank you for a window into great gaming memories. I was looking to see what happened with MOHAA and if people were still playing, which led me to see if =NAA= -[BtC]- or <ROB> were still up and running. Although I was never a part of AOD, it was always fun to play on the AOD servers or with them in the ladder matches.
I'm trying to remember who else was a part of that vein- I remember BWoogie, Maddox, ZeroKill, Uxmal, Paratrooper, Agent X, Smoke?
Nice to see these memories,
Agent_Clay

Angels Of Death
They shall be Dark of heart and strong of body, untainted by doubt and unsullied by self aggrandisement.
They will be bright stars in the firmament of battle.
Angels of Death whose shining wings bring swift annihilation to the enemies of man.

When you get to DCUO I'll gladly add my thoughts.
(though that's like... forever down this time line.)
I'm still chewing through this one but I gotta admitt I love it. I am so glad that the people that started this "clan" are genuine people. You guys started this with the same intentions that (kinda) that I found this group. I will continue to Ted this post and digest it.
To the founders of AOD thank you for sticking it out, and allowing like minds to get together. Obviously technology had caught-up with your dream... ish.
Would like to read more!
"Blessed be the Lord my strength, who teacheth my hands to war and my fingers to fight."
took awhile to read but i'm glad that AOD is here today lots of good players and friendly people...Thank you
I can't belive the clan I'm in today has survived over so many years, happy to be here guys!
Greetings and Salutations!
I myself have been gaming for many years now, even some of the games you've mentioned, but only just joined AOD recently with the launch of "Defiance". Amazing how within a few months I can go from a hellbug scrubbing grunt to the XO of a division :) And although my other gaming clan (Alpha Strike) is really now more defunct than anything, I'm glad and honored to have found a new home with such a great history, and great people. I can see myself staying here for many years to come.

wow, found my entry on page 3 of this from 2005. Brings back so many memories. AOD FOR LIFE.
To all of you Older Members that joined in or around 2004, Did our clan ever have a foothold in Unreal Tournament 2004? If we did I may have been part of this Family before. On that note, If anyone remembers a member named AOD Lara from UT 2004 that would definitely clench it right there. Couldn't remember the name of the clan but I do remember being part of an AOD when I played UT04. It would be nice to put this thought to rest.
Wow, looking through this its so weird seeing so many names I recognize, some still here, many that are not. I was a member for quite a few years, even ran a few servers for the BF division back in the day when I was running some game server hosting companies, and working with DICE. The Clan went through a few splits, watched a few former members split off, start another clans and watched those clans fail, and several try and come back. Seen a few mergers too. Was around when one of the founders stepped down, I think that was Livid? One constant through all of that and that was AOD. I remember when we were around 600-700 members, then 1000, then 1200. Now you guys are up to 2000. WOW! That is awesome!
I came on around BF2. Made it all the way up to SGT in BF2142. Even helped run it for a very very very short time with Commanche when our XO and CO left, till we could fill the spots. Then life came up on me, and things got busy, the home computer started getting turned on less and less (I was on my work computer all day, doing my day job and running the game server company, and handling the BF division servers (and for a short while the clan forums, website and vent) and didn't have time or want to be around a PC when I got home). I stepped down to CPL. It got to the point where I had all the games when they came out, but spent so much time working with DICE, EA, CS, and the game server companies, I only got maybe one or 2 hours in playing BFBC2, BF3 and BF4, and most of that time was for testing, or problem fixing. I look back on that, and realize now I have over 220 games on Steam. I've played 1 or 2 of them. Most I got for free cause of what I did, but still I realize I spent all that time working on the games instead of playing with my friends at AOD. Then the games that were coming out were far more sophisticated then my PC. So with all of that I took a LOA, around the same time the BF3 division shut down while waiting for BF4. Came back and found I was naked... I was missing something from my name. All new people, names I didn't recognize anymore, and a lot of names I did recognize were also missing that AOD name. Realized I am an old fogy in game standards (only 35 lol).
Now I have a kick arse PC, and I think I am going to start playing all those games I've had for a while. Still doing the testing, but taking a break from the game server hosting so I can play.
A lot of this is superficial and I had a very small part of the BF division, but looking back on those years, 2005-2012, it is history, and it is a part of AOD's history. I know there were several other divisions at the time, but BF is the only one I remember :) (and one of the few constant divisions through the years). Here's to Battlefield!
