    Default Finally upgrading!!

At the moment my PC config:

    GPU: GTX 1080
    CPU: 3900x
    Ram: 32gb 3200Mhz
    Mob: MSI x570 Ace Meg

I'm upgrading the GPU to a ROG Strix 4080 and since that will make a big ass bottle neck I'm also upgrading to a 5800x3D since it's better at gaming compared to the 5950x. I was planning to move up to DDR5 but I still want that to be a bit more developed before I jump on.

side note: rtx4090 is a titan class card so I felt that even though cost to Performance is better with a 4090 I still think it's way over kill and would make a bigger bottle neck unless I went all out and did a whole rebuild.

anyone using a 4080 or 4090 and are you happy with what you got?

    GPU: Vega 56
    CPU: 2700X
    Ram: GSkill 32GB 3200Mhz
    Mobo: ASUS X470 Prime

Heh, nice! Just got a 5800X3D too, to replace my aging 2700X. Quite a fat upgrade and something I've never done before, CPU wise. But the AM4 platform has been great for CPU upgrades. Really worthwhile if you have an early AMD ZEN CPU.
Not going to upgrade the GPU yet, though. Prices are still stupid, IMO. Waiting for the AMD 7xxx GPUs to come out for some competition. Hopefully that'll lower the prices. Still running stuff like Cyberpunk at medium to high settings, 1080p at 70FPS, so not really in a hurry.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Honestly I'd of just gone with the 4090 or waited a week. Rumor is Nvidia will cut 4080 price on AMDs launch day to steal sales. 4090 is a monster and will last for years. 4080 is a beast to but not worth the price imo. Once it drops it'll be a great card and I'd expect a 4080ti to be announced soon to close the huge gap between the 4080 and 4090. Your build is gonna be a monster tho that's for sure.

the problem i have is that there will always be something better coming out every few months and this is getting me a 200% boost so even with a high price tag i'm still getting so much out of it. rumor is that AMD's XTX GPU wont out do the 4080 so that's why they priced it at 1000USD. I will cry if they do cut the price by a lot just to shit on AMD haha but if it's just a small price drop then it doesn't matter.

5800x3d is an excellent option. Did you purchase it from one of the retailers offering the Uncharted Bundle for free?

Not sure where you saw that rumor as all I've seen is its pretty much set in stone that it will be significantly faster and the 7900xt is made to compete with the 4080. This is only in rasterization tho. The 4080 will destroy it in ray tracing.

Although there's an embargo until the 13 of this month (I think), some very small YouTubers don't care and have some 7900 vs 4080 benchmarks. Doesn't look very good for the 4080...

So things are basically the same as they have always for years: AMD GPUs are better value, nVidia GPUs are better if you want the very best (4090).

I did hear that there might be a drop around 5%

I will wait till gamer nexus brings our there renew, If it's only a small difference then it will suck but I can't do much about it also I'm already getting a 200% performance boast over the 1080 that I had.

The 4080 is a excellent GPU, if a bit overpriced. That's actually the only issue I have nVidia, their greed. But there are other advantages in going for nVidia compaired to AMD, like ray tracing performance which you can actually enjoy with a 4080 because it has the horse power to run it properly. So at the end of the day, you have a great card and as long as you happy with it, doesn't really matter if this or that is a bit cheaper or runs this or that a little faster.

Almost forgot! I actually had to increase the time limit to my coupon code because it had expired
