    Default Internal Hard Drive issues

    Hello all,
I have an issue with one of my internal hard drives. Lucky it isn't my OS hard drive but my "storage" drive.

The Drive is a Seagate Baracuda (ST2000DM006) 2TB drive and the problem, using CrystalDiskInfo, It's coming up with a caution under "Current Pending Sector Count" and "Uncorrectable Sector Count" so Bad Sectors.

I'm currently transferring everything off the drive and going to re format it to see if that corrects it. However failing that I'm probably going to replace it.

Any other solutions would help or hard drive recommendations to.

    Thank you

keep using it as extra storage, don't put anything important in it though.

I did a Full Reformat on it and it removed the cautions. I've been meaning to get a NAS drive for years so its probably time to invest.

    Thank you for the advice.

Build yourself one and thank me later.
The options & Power of a homebuilt (quite inexpensive when you compare it to a decent nas) is unmatched.

OS = FreeNAS / TrueNAS (they are the same thing)
    CPU = Quadcore
RAM = (depending on what you want it to do) 8gb+

To give you an idea of what mine does (4th gen i5, 16gb ram, dualgb nic's & 120tb of storage)
    Plex server
    NAS (of course)
    TorrentBox
NextCloud (Think of this like OneDrive / Google Drive / iCloud but the data is on something YOU own)
Remote BackupServer (I have a similar box located at my parents house for me to backup to and they backup to my place, I work as a sys admin and backups, backups, BACKUPS I cannot say that more then enough.)

Minus HDD's the hardware shouldn't set you back more then a few hundred $ (Similar to a NAS, but the nice thing about this is expansion / future growth, my nas went from 2 drives to 4 drives then 8 drives and I never had to buy new hardware.... minus the drives haha)

Do a boot time chkdisk to repair bad/dead sectors, and also check the SATA cable for faults and or Shorts make sure the SATA cable is the correct gauge correcly Inserted and the DRIVE has proper ventaltion. after that I would Recomend a Defrag. Do not FORMAT!
