Favorite old game? Tough to say But I will give a category for each one.

Shooter: Halo CE or Halo 2.
Action Adventure: Legend of Zelda; Ocarina of Time.
Fighting: Mortal Kombat 2 or Trilogy.
Racing: Burnout 3; Takedown
Strategy: Age of Empires 2 or Total War Medieval 2
Horror: Silent Hill 2,3, or 4.
Handheld: Advance Wars or Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire.

Hands down my favorite game was Transportation Tycoon Deluxe. It was a PC game all about building and managing a railroad empire. There were also ships, planes, and trucks, but no one ever used those. ;)
I still play the fan-made remake OTTD occasionally to this day.

Honestly from PS1 I loved Gran Turismo, uncle used to have PSX and we played a lot Tekken which was a lot of fun, from PS2 I would definitely say GTA San Andreas.
I know this one isn't that old but when I had my PS3 I loved and played BBC2 and damn, it was just such a nice game to play with friends, specially blowing up the quad bikes making the team mates fly away from the map

Also loved the Rayman franchise until they started adding stupid rabbits.
Call of Duty 2 got me into shooting games.
The first game I was ever addicted to was The elder scrolls III Morrowind.
Obviously loved Minecraft.

Hands down: AvP2 (Aliens vs. Predator 2) based on the movies.
Loved to play Alien, especially as predalien =)

Like in BF2 and alot other games, I like the Evac mode best - As alien, keep the marines from evacuating :)
