Gotta make Rey look better than Luke and give her all the good scenes because Luke’s just a crusty old guy and no one wants to see him do anything. Not like Star Wars was always about the Skywalkers or anything.
I suppose you could take this two ways, one bad and one good. The good from this could be that it's such a drastic change in character that ends up feeling real for Luke. It could end up enhancing his story and personality far beyond what anyone could have thought. New takes on characters is always interesting, and seeing a Luke Skywalker who will most likely be completely down in the dumps from some grave realization he's had about the futility of his efforts sounds really intriguing to me. I hope this change that Rian made challenges us as a viewer and works out in the long run.
The bad is, of course, the fact that the man who basically is Luke doesn't like what has been done.
He doesn't like what was done because it -shouldn't- have been done. He knows his character better than any of those directors or producers. Luke aint the type to quit when the going gets tough.
Sure he isn't happy. But Luke being unhappy.....is he unhappy because he thinks Rey is as powerful or more than Kilo? It's obvious from The force awakens that luke was there when Kilo turned. The thing that is pulling me the most about the last jedi trailer is when Rey says she's looking for someone to help her make sense of all this. Was she saying that to Kilo, which prompts him to hold his hand out, or to someone else and that scene edited to make you THINK Rey is fixing to turn, and Luke has by chance scene this in a vision?
Oh my head, the questions.............. At least I already have my IMAX seats reserved :)
Kylo*
It's obviously an edited scene, the backgrounds look similar, but I don't think they're the same place. Disney isn't too stupid to let a big plot turn like that be revealed in the trailer. It's like in the Force Awakens trailers, they had us believing that Finn was the jedi-to-be, when we later found out he was just a stormtrooper who changed sides.
I know they'll never do it, but I think it would be pretty cool to have Kylo bring Rey over to the darkside, then be persuaded somehow to go back to the light side (So, basically have Rey and Kylo switch places).
I wouldn't blame him, personally I'm not a huge fan of the direction Disney is taking with Star Wars either, for multiple reasons.
You’re hard.
I have to agree with Mark though. Not a huge fan of the new movie. Guess we will see TLJ soon.
oof
i am sad too Mark, lets cry together
I hope they dont make Luke evil or weak
