Discord Server Roles & Channel Notifications

Good day,

Those of you in possession of an intelligence quota above the national average may have noticed that there is a server bot, excellently engineered by our Command Sergeants, in our Discord server. Those of you who desire additional fun and communication with your fellow Angels of Death will have been a part of this server and can take advantage of it's plethora of functions. Most of these can be easily viewed by opening a direct message with the bot and typing "!help". The following commands are ones you can make use of. There is also an announcements channel, where pertinent events will be posted, that you can set to be notified of when that occurs.

USE THESE COMMANDS IN A DIRECT MESSAGE TO THE BOT TO AVOID SPAM IN SERVER CHANNELS PLEASE

!login "<username/email>" "<password>" - used by new members to the Discord server, or people who have to link thier forum profile to their Discord account so that their permissions are assigned. Never use this in public channels to keep your account secure. A detailed guide on how to do this can be found here

!help [<command>] - Will provide a more detailed description of a specific command.

!ping - This command exists for reasons that completely elude me. But if you have ever wanted a computer to send a message with the text "pong" in it. Then this is for you.

!roll [<count>d<size>] - For you Dungeons and Dragons enthusiasts, this allows you to perform all the skill checks you desire, without the need for cumbersome dice.

!flip - Executes a coin flip. The denomination and nationality of the currency are not specified.

!reminder [rem <reminder>|<timeout> <message>] - To alleviate the problems of memory loss, or the need for a surprise in an otherwise mundane world. Set a reminder with this helpful command.

SERVER ROLES

In addition to the bot commands below, you can now use the PlanetSide 2 roles channel directly below the announcements channel in Discord. Simply use the associated reaction with the indicated role that you desire, and you will be automatically subscribed. Unreact to unsubscribe

Recently, and going forward, there will be additional subscribable server roles available. Unlike member/officer ect. tags, these roles will not grant you any permissions or special access. Instead, they serve to help identify our vast clan population into more specific groups and assist in notifying those groups of pertinent information as needed. These roles are voluntary so feel free to subscribe to any that interest you.

!list - provides a list of all the server roles that are available to you for subscription.

Let us suppose, you are (should be) interested in adding the new "PlanetSide 2 Events" role to help with being notified of any critical developments on Auraxis. The process is simple, elegant. Just utilize the same brain cells that we verified you to be in possession of when you figured out how to create a forum profile, submit an application, and log-on to TeamSpeak, and follow these steps.

1. Go to your enthralling conversation you have been holding with the server bot.

2. Type "!sub Planetside 2 Events"

3. Hit [ENTER].

4. ???

5. Profit.

If at anytime you, for some unfathomable reason, wish to remove this role. Follow these steps.

1. Type "!unsub Planetside 2 Events"

2. ???

3. Despair as you envision all the merrymaking and joy you will be unable to partake in because you will be completely unbeknownst to their happenings.

These commands are applicable to all the roles that you see and might want to subscribe to as well. If you still have any questions, contact any non-commissioned officer

CHANNEL NOTIFICATIONS

There is now a channel in Discord call "PlanetSide 2 Announcements." This is for all upcoming and ongoing PlanetSide events. Events will be posted here and then removed once they pass. Only officers will be able to do this, and only for events. So it will be in your interest to receive notification of these messages as soon as they are sent. This can be accomplished with a few simple steps.

Overall for the server, it is better if you have the server set to mentions, this way if we mention you, you will know it. We do our best not to ping people too much, but having the ability to do so can be helpful.

In order to turn it on for specific channels:

1. Right-click on the AOD server, and select notification settings.

2. Scroll down to notification overrides.

3. Search for "PlanetSide 2 Announcements" in the select channel field.

4. Set the notifications to all.
